Ensuring quality at Cambridge Commodities: a message from our quality control leader

Hi, my name is Adina, and I am the Quality Control Leader at Cambridge Commodities. My role is to ensure that our products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, adhere to rigorous specifications, and comply with all regulatory requirements.

At CC, we implement a comprehensive and stringent quality control process to maintain the integrity of our ingredients throughout the supply chain. These processes are crucial for guaranteeing our products' quality, safety, and efficacy.

To support our commitment to quality, we utilise advanced analytical tools, such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. Every product we purchase undergoes a positive release process, including FTIR analysis, which leverages our extensive library of over 200,000 FTIR reference files. This robust database allows us to verify the identity of our products accurately. Additionally, we frequently use Sigma reference standards in conjunction with FTIR analysis, providing an extra layer of confidence in our results.

Beyond our internal capabilities, we partner with certified and accredited laboratories across the UK, Europe, and the US for third-party testing. Utilising these reputable external labs is essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our results. This multi-faceted approach allows us to validate our findings and maintain consistency across our supply chain.

Is your tea being tested correctly? At CC, we ensure it is.
We recognise that testing methodologies can vary widely. Therefore, we work closely with our suppliers and customers to ensure consistency and reliability in the testing process. Tea, one of the most popular beverages, is widely used in food supplements due to its polyphenol content. Accurate analysis technology is crucial for obtaining information on the antioxidant capacity, nutritional value, product quality, and authenticity of tea.

For instance, testing individual tea polyphenols, such as catechins, can be done with titration or IR spectroscopy. However, such parameters are better suited to LC-MS or UV/DAD methods. While titration is a classical but lower-accuracy test, Folin-Ciocalteu colourimetry, despite involving a complicated pre-treatment step, provides highly accurate results. These methods enable us to distinguish between high-quality, polyphenol-rich tea products and those that are less potent.

At CC, we are dedicated to upholding the highest quality standards in all our products. Our rigorous testing processes and advanced analytical tools ensure that you can trust the integrity and efficacy of our ingredients.

Thank you for trusting Cambridge Commodities.

Best regards,
Adina Tutt
