Understanding synbiotics

To appreciate the true value of synbiotics, it's crucial to first understand its core components - probiotics and prebiotics.

Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. Commonly found in yoghurts and other fermented foods or dietary supplements, these beneficial bacteria help maintain the natural balance of organisms (microflora) in the intestines, playing a pivotal role in digestive and overall health.

Prebiotics serve as food for probiotics and beneficial bacteria in the gut, helping to stimulate their growth and activity. Prebiotic fibres are found in various fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Creating the synbiotic

The fascinating relationship between probiotics and prebiotics lies in their reciprocal nature - probiotics thrive on the nourishment that prebiotics provide.

This synergistic relationship not only enhances the survival and implantation of live probiotics in the gastrointestinal tract but also amplifies their health benefits. It's a classic case of unity being strength, where combining these two elements yields results superior to those achieved by either alone. This is what it means to create a synbiotic product.

If you're interested in developing your own your own synbiotic product, some ingredients that you might want to consider including in the formulation may include:

  • P01054 Actazin®, green kiwifruit powder
  • P33387 Livaux®, gold kiwifruit powder
  • P06075 Fructo-Oligo Saccharide (FOS) 95%
  • P13511 ActiBio®-BS Bacillus subtilis 15bn
  • P12884 ActiBio®-BC Bacillus coagulans 15bn
  • P18160 ActiBio®-BS Bacillus subtilis 100bn
